Deb Tucker Tucker Trimmer I

What this tool is for

The Tucker Trimmer I is for squaring up already-sewn units. The diagonal marks align with seams in half-square triangles, hourglass units and units combining the two. If your hourglass points shift while you trim, use the diagonals to locate the seam intersection before you establish the square outside edges.

Fit and buying advice

The acrylic ruler is 7 inches square. It covers eleven finished sizes from 1 to 6 inches in half-inch steps. The corresponding trim sizes are 1½ through 6½ inches. Use the larger number to trim the loose unit before it goes into the block. Check the finished size when matching the pattern.

Questions about this tool

My pattern calls for a 4-inch finished unit. What do I trim to?

Use the 4½-inch trim size so the outside seam allowances are still there when the unit is joined.

Is this for a flying geese unit?

Flying geese are rectangular. Compare a dedicated flying geese trimmer if the pattern specifies a two-to-one finished rectangle.

Can I use it left-handed?

Studio 180 supplies left-handed instructions. Follow that sequence when laying the ruler against the seam lines.
