Choosing block trimmers and seam guides

Choose how the tool registers.

A printed diagonal can be lined up visually. A grooved Bloc Loc ruler rests against a seam allowance. Slotted triangle trimmers give you another sequence for cutting the edges and tips. Use the instructions for the exact tool you choose.

Use the trim size.

A finished 4-inch unit may need a 4½-inch trim when the pattern uses quarter-inch outer seams. For a specialized ruler, use the figure matching the maker’s stated convention. Choose a marking guide if the unit is still at the seam-marking stage.
